There is no Keypad Lock on my phone (it’s classed as an Optional Feature in the manual) which has resulted in making calls and wasting money. There are blinding lights between the keys which do act well as a torch and are an attractive blue colour but I don’t find them friendly on the eyes especially in the dark. One feature I do like is the beeping if I receive a message and not notice. The trouble with the screen is it is black as though it’s not switched on so impossible to take a quick glance without pressing a button.
The screen is a good size though and the graphics are good quality but to me seem pointless as a battery waster. I’m not a huge fan of the screen savers -Sony vgp-bps5a Battery they don’t actually come on until 16 seconds after the backlight has gone off on the phone! Pictures are provided and are colourful for both background and screen savers but I just stick with one and focus on what I’m doing on the phone instead. Animated and still pictures are provided for a more colourful message but as I found out, waste a lot of money. Tilting the phone in any direction turns the screen from blue to normal to orange which only causes a problem for those trying to look on while you’re playing with it. Sony vgp-bps5 Battery For use with the camera, in the Games menu is a multimedia album which lets me stick frames round my photos… again a bit pointless and only got used on purchase but can be amusing and even has a slide show feature but on a small screen isn’t great.
The camera isn’t bad in the right light. As it doesn’t feature a flash some photos taken towards light make the subject into a silhouette but still the picture even at the highest quality is a little grainy. There are 3 resolutions: MMS (160×120), Medium (320×240) and High (640×480) and also a 4x zoom but zooming just shows up an even grainier photo – I’d rather use a digital camera for those special moments. The camera lens is found on the back of the phone while the ‘Capture’ button is on the front so really only ideal if you are not taking photos of yourself. The video feature is the same quality as the camera but the sound is fantastic.Sony vgp-bpl2c Battery Unfortunately videos do take up a lot more memory but at 2MB available space it can be played around with to see what length and quality can be recorded before it’s full.
